Trouble in Crown Heights

In this article: the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn is Chabad's worldwide headquarters. Recently, it was covered in posters explaining modest fashion standards, and imploring girls and women to dress accordingly. "It's not just a good idea... It's the law!" the posters scream. My mom's reaction was that they have no right to tell neighborhood visitors how to dress. She remembers my grandmother's visit to Israel in 1970, when the residents of Me'eh She'arim would throw stones at anybody walking through without sufficiently modest dress.
